Kim Baenisch, the executive director of the Marin County Bicycle Coalition is the fourth in the Speakers Program for the Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency.

Her topic is “Creating Successful Countywide Bicycle Programs” and she will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at the Napa City County Library Community Room, 580 Coombs Road, Napa.

Baenisch’s talk is part of the effort by the Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency to bring recognized experts on key transportation issues and programs to Napa, who will give public talks about ideas and policies that have been successfully implemented in other areas, and how those ideas and policies might be applicable to Napa County. With NCTPA beginning an update of the countywide Strategic Transportation Plan, this program will help bring new ideas and thinking to the table, and supplement the other public outreach and education efforts with the Napa community.

Napa Town and Country Fair entries due July 6

July 6 is the deadline for all entries in the Napa Town and Country Fair, including the “Lemon Moo-rang Pie Contest,” “Decorate your Window or Lobby,” and the “Diaper Derby.”

This year’s “Shake Your Moove Thing” theme will be carried out in competitions, displays and music during the annual fair Aug. 8-12. The fair will officially kick off with the Preview Gala and Wine Tasting at 5:30 Tuesday, Aug. 7.

For those without access to a computer, staff is available at the Napa Valley Expo office to walk entrants through the online entry system using the Expo’s computers 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 575 Third St. in Napa.

NEWS training begins July 10

Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS) offers its domestic violence counselor training beginning July 10 and continuing through July 31. This 40-hour training is state-mandated for those working with domestic violence victims or their children.

Classes will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on three Saturdays. For more information about the training or volunteer opportunities at Napa Emergency Women’s Services (NEWS), call Sarah Dickens, 252-3687, ext. 4485.
